About JoeMary Labs

Building better systems
for a more productive future.

JoeMary Labs is an organisational transformation and systems design company focused on improving how businesses and institutions work.

We investigate how an organisation actually operates, identify the structural and operational bottlenecks, design the appropriate system and implement it.

The philosophy

Organisations are interconnected systems.

Their people, information, processes, technology and decisions influence one another. Improving one part without understanding the wider system can simply move the problem somewhere else.

That is why we investigate how work actually happens before designing an intervention. It is also why we will sometimes conclude that the right answer is a process change, an adjustment to software you already own, or nothing at all.

We do not begin with a preferred technology. We begin with the organisation, its people, its information, its processes and its objectives.

Mission, vision and thesis

Why the company exists.

Mission
Improve organisational productivity and contribute to economic development by helping businesses and institutions build better systems, use information effectively and adopt technology that makes their operations more capable.
Vision
Contribute to a Nigeria in which more businesses and institutions operate with reliable information, disciplined processes, modern tools and a workforce capable of using them.
Thesis
National development depends partly on the productive capability of its organisations. JoeMary Labs can make a narrow, cumulative contribution by improving one real operating system at a time. That is a theory of contribution, not a claim that technology alone solves structural economic problems.

How the lab works

A practical standard for the work.

Four commitments. The investigation establishes what needs attention. The build follows only when there is a useful job for a system to do.

Observe before prescribing
Start with the people doing the work. Trace the requests, decisions and handoffs before deciding what to build.
Choose the simplest useful intervention
A process change may be enough. Use software, automation or AI when it addresses a specific problem.
Define who is responsible
Agree what the system may do, where it must stop and who takes over. Human oversight needs an owner and a workable process.
Keep evidence separate from expectation
Test the agreed workflow. Document limitations. Distinguish observed results from estimates and demonstrations.

The founder

Onu Abrahams

Founder and Systems Designer.

Onu Abrahams is a filmmaker and systems designer with a background in computer science, technology implementation and AI systems. His work brings together observation, systems thinking, technology and practical problem-solving.

Filmmaking involves observation: understanding relationships, identifying what matters and making sense of complex information under constraint. Those are the same skills an operational investigation requires. A film and an organisation both fail when nobody has traced how the parts actually connect.

That connection informs how JoeMary Labs approaches organisational systems. It is a way of thinking, not a commercial service: filmmaking is not what the company sells.

A few practical questions

Before we begin.

Who founded JoeMary Labs?

Onu Abrahams, who leads its research and system design. His background is on the founder page.

Does every project use AI?

No. The operation determines the approach. A process change, an integration or an internal tool is often more useful than an AI-assisted system, and cheaper to maintain.

Where does an engagement begin?

With an initial systems review of agreed priority workflows. Scope and turnaround are confirmed before the review. You receive findings in writing, with no obligation to commission a build.

Are you an AI agency?

No. AI is one of the tools we use. The business is organisational transformation through systems design, which is why the first two stages of every engagement are investigation.

The next step

Bring us the problem.

Start with an initial systems review of your priority workflows. We agree the scope and turnaround before the review begins.
